| 1. Q: When is the race?
A: Alcoa’s adult Ridge To River Relay is Saturday,
April 14, 2007 and the Wenatchee World’s Junior Ridge To
River Relay is Saturday, April 21, 2007.
2. Q: Where is the race?
A: The Junior race is held at Walla Walla Point Park
in Wenatchee.
The traditional adult race spans a 35-mile course that
begins at the top
of Mission Ridge and finishes at Riverfront Park in
Wenatchee.
3. Q: How much does it cost to
register?
A: Click here to visit our fee schedule page.
4. Q: How do I sign up?
A:Click here to visit our sign-up page.
5. Q: What kind of boat do I use
to qualify for a Pro category?
A: Because there are many different options for
vessels, bikes and skis,
we've outlined all the different options- and what category
they qualify
for in our rules and regulations. Click here to visit that page. If you still
have questions after reading this information, call the Race
Office at
(509) 662-8799 to be sure you arrive with the proper
equipment.
6. Q: I want to race, but can't
put together a team. How do I contact people
looking for racers?
A: We have developed a racer bulletin board page on
this site to connect
racers with teams. Click here to visit this page.
7. Q: What is the difference
between the Wenatchee and Columbia courses?
A: The Wenatchee course follows Alcoa’s traditional
Ridge To River course.
The Columbia course is shorter, from 35 miles down to 20,
and eliminates
participants from paddling in the sometimes-challenging
Wenatchee River.
The bike leg is also shorter in the Columbia course.
8. Q: Can a Junior Ridge To River
team be made up of less than 5 kids?
A: Yes, but teams consisting of less than 5 kids will
still be scored
against teams of 5.
9. Q: Do Adventure Duo teams use
two boats, or one?
A: All are Iron categories and must adhere to
all Iron rules, but they may paddle together or solo in the
water in any
canoe or kayak(s).
10. Q: Do you have any
suggestions for racers doing more than one leg on the
adult race?
A: This is a bit of a judgment call... our suggestion
is that any racer
competing in more than one leg should do back-to-back legs
(such as Nordic
and alpine, etc) or legs at each end of the race (such as
Nordic and
paddle). Many racers ask if one racer can do the ski and
bike. The answer is
yes, but the run is a very fast leg. More often than not,
the racer does not
make it to the start of the bike before the runner finishes.
The team can
wait for the biker to arrive, but the clock is not stopped.
11. Q: How does
Mission Ridge help Alcoa’s Ridge To River Relay?
A: We couldn’t do
it without them! Did you know that Mission Ridge
contributes approximately $30,000 in kind to pull
Alcoa’s R2R off? The adult race is always held the
first weekend after the Ridge closes. But, Mission
Ridge still employs a large portion of their staff
for grooming, lift operations, facility operations
etc just for this one event. They are a wonderful
partner and Alcoa’s adult race would not be possible
without their generous support.
